Hot linking is apparently a source of problems.

This is a hot link (means you can directly click on it)

www.hothothotlinks.com

to neutralize it, there is no need to transform it into complicated hxxp:// www. hothothotlinks. com, etc.

Just remove everything from h to w, and place a - , then it goes : -hothothotlinks.com

Then you have to copy and paste that link (without the -) in the address bar of your browser (without adding http etc., it is useless). That is all.

Wouldn't it be easier to simply disalow the [ url=] function ?

Only the Adm. could disable that function, so we have to wait.

Removing the URL button is possible the best way to go however, I have just had a look and (although I am not that au fait with blogs) I can not see anywhere where to add or remove code buttons. I did a search in the help section, but no posts had been made. Perhaps our leader maybe able to do it?

Removing the button does not help if somebody just pastes a link into the post and forgets de-hotlinking it or he may not know about this rule at all. For this case it would be helpful if the new post page showed a conspicuous warning about not posting hotlinks.

A very good idea, but how ?

Well, just a test: www.google.com should be surpressed by patternmatching some where in the code. just add the [ url= ] string. This is Opensource code, isn't it ?
But this is best left to the owner.

Uhhps, it isn't.....

That was naked HTML.

I see nasty possibilieties. :-o

I have checked with the forumfree.it team, unfortunately such automatic function of killing hot links does not exist (at least for their forums).
