Here is another example of overly-sensitive "Artists" circling the wagons, so to speak. I viewed the "12 hour State of Things" on Vimeo, and even went to a suggested page which was supposed to enhance my understanding of it. The whole concept struck me as something I would expect from undergraduates, people inhabiting the rarified environment of their own inner circle (dare I say "cult"?) of like-minded ideologues, and I said as much in a comment which I posted on Vimeo. Not only was the comment removed, but further comments are disabled.

ADDENDUM -- Reading the above paragraph seven hours later, I remember that what I had actually commented on Vimeo was that the video struck me as the sort of thing which commences from the questionable assumption that one is an "Artist," and that everything one does is therefore "Art." What I wrote here seven hours ago must have been bouncing around in my subconscious as I furiously typed the comment which was deleted from Vimeo.

This leads to a further observation. In addition to the distinction between Art and porn, which we have been discussing, there is also another relevant distinction, namely the distinction between Art and drivel. Much that passes for Art is nothing but drivel.
